How do windscreen repairs work?

Before we begin our repair process, we start by assessing the size and location of the chip to ensure it’s suitable for repair.

Once we are confident that a repair is the best option for your windscreen, we use specialised injectors, pressure and temperature adjustments to fill the break with resin.

An ultraviolet lamp is then used to cure the resin in place, bonding the glass and restoring both strength and clarity to the windscreen.

Are windscreen repairs necessary?

Addressing damage to your windscreen is essential for maintaining the safety and integrity of your vehicle. Even a small stone chip can compromise the strength of the glass, obstruct your vision or develop into damage that cannot be repaired.

Repairing a chip is an economical first step in recovering the structural integrity of your windscreen and can restore up to 90% of the original clarity of the glass.

Repair or replace?

When deciding whether to repair or replace your windscreen we need to consider the type, size and location of the damage to ensure it will meet NZTA standards. We assess each break to ensure repair is the best option for your windscreen, especially if the damage is within the drivers critical vision area (CVA).

If the damage exceeds the NZTA guidelines, we will recommend replacement.
